Speech Roulette exists because practicing impromptu speaking on your own is oddly hard. You cannot surprise yourself with a topic, and without a timer every speech quietly becomes a monologue. This site fixes both. Press a button, get a prompt you have never seen, prepare for a fixed window, then speak for a fixed window while the timer changes color to keep you on pace.

What is here

• A random speech topic generator with a 15-minute preparation countdown and a 1-minute speech timer, both adjustable.
• A Quickfire Topics generator that starts with no preparation and a two-minute limit, with green and amber signals.
• 2,434 original prompts in 16 categories, each tagged easy, medium or hard and listed in full so you can read or print them.
• A guide to impromptu speaking with a preparation routine and structures that work under pressure.

How it is built

The whole site is static: plain HTML, one stylesheet, one small script and a JSON file of topics. There is no server, no database and no account. Your settings and the list of topics you have already seen live in your own browser. That makes it fast, private and free to run, which is why it will stay free.

The prompt library was written for this site and is reviewed and extended over time. If a prompt is unclear, unfair or simply bad, say so and it will be fixed or removed.

Independent by design

Speech Roulette and its Quickfire Topics format are independently created for speaking practice. The prompts are original and the site is not affiliated with any speech-club organization.
